A fast growing online fashion retailer is currently looking for an Assistant Buyer to join their team located in Leeds. This company is currently looking to expand its market and therefore opens up a really exciting opportunity for someone looking to gain responsibility as an Assistant buyer.

This role will support the Buying department in all aspects including Ladieswear, Menswear, Footwear and Homeware. This is a busy role with the potential for progression to Junior Buyer.

Your responsibilities include maintaining positive vendor relations, preparing retail and pricing strategies, placing and tracking purchase orders, managing inventory and keeping track of market trends. To excel as an Assistant Buyer, you should be confident, highly organised and an excellent communicator. Outstanding Assistant Buyers have analytical minds and great negotiating skills.

The role is largely admin based; however, you will play an active role in the buying process:
" Assist the buyer with the selection of the right product mix.
" Write, place and track purchase orders.
" Collation of reports and sales information
" Ensure products are purchased at the right time, to specification and at a good price.
" Negotiate with vendors and build positive, long-term relationships.
" Research new suppliers and make recommendations to the buyer.
" Critical path management
" Working cross functionally with internal departments to ensure smooth running of the day to day buying function
" Management of samples and the image bank
" Competitor analysis
" Awareness of upcoming trends
" Working closely with the supplier base
" Assisting with the organisation of product for photography shoots.
" Working in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail in an organised manner
