Project Design Engineer
Requirements:
• Proven experience (5+ years) in mechanical design, with a focus on heavy steel structures, equipment, or machinery.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other engineering tools.
• Previous experience in the heavy steel industry min 5 years is essential.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, structural analysis, and material selection.
• Full valid driving licence
• Degree in Engineering Design advantageous

About the job
The role:
• Take responsibility for and manage your own workload.
• Translating client requirements into practical terms that can be implemented by a team
• Prioritizing and organising project tasks into the required timeline
• Ensuring the project meets its deadlines at each stage
• Ensuring the design process recognizes current legislation, standards and codes of practice, and where appropriate liaise with the SHEQ Manager to ensure full CE and legislative compliance of new and existing products
• Testing product designs using models, prototypes, specialist computer software and computer-aided design (CAD) technology
• Produce 2D / 3D CAD design drawings for the manufacturing process
• Identifying problems with the project, taking the lead on developing solutions and ensuring solutions are implemented
• Liaising with third parties such as external contractors around time scales and working practices
• Strive to eliminate health and safety and financial risks in the design, manufacturing and installation processes.
• Ensure a safe and legally compliant workplace is maintained within the design office in line with company policies and procedures
• Deals with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment
• Any other duty required by the company that is within the skills and capabilities of the employee.
• Maintain a high standard of personnel presentation and compliance with the companies’ uniform expectations
